I wrote a blog post recently about the 9 intranet content types that add value to your organisation. The article lists and gives examples of the different types of content that can be supported by an intranet. The thought occurred to me that a survey about this list could help provide an indication of the relative importance of each content type and subsequenly how much time and effort should be given to managing each type.
Indicate the degree of usefulness you think each intranet content type can add to your organization.

I think todays intranets are expected to deliver more and more. The list of 9 content items are all very important. What we see are external influencers affecting the internal audiences expectations of variety, quality and content. People naturally just expect more from their work online/technical experiences - and without any compromises! In fact people are expecting the work place to provide environments 'to get things done' in a way which is as good as their external online experiences.

While these content items are all useful, their degree of usefulness relies on people knowing they are available, being easily accessible and usable, and being accurate and up to date. It's not enough just to have them on your intranet, they need to be promoted to employees. They all need time and effort to maintain but additional resources need to be allocated to communicate them sufficiently to ensure take-up.

Lee, I couldn't agree more. If people had ready access to the tools they need to do their job (which is one of the Gallup Q12 measures) they'd be more productive and happier. And, they wouldn't have to bother other people to find the things they need.
Here's a link to the Gallup Q12
